Zero Carbon is driven by innovator Gerard Frew, who has a proven record of delivering high-value multi-discipline projects for both private and commercial clients. An operationally driven individual, Gerard has progressed his career from consulting engineering to enter the construction industry as an operations manager.
Gerard has leveraged his collective industry experience to drive Zero Carbon from strength to strength. This experience, combined with a desire to achieve excellence in all his operations, has allowed Gerard to set a standard within the company that is reflected in its extraordinary customer service.
“We strive for professional integrity, transparency, and excellence in everything we say, design, and deliver,” Gerard tells us. “Allowing clients to draw on our professional integrity is a huge deal. The systems we design, and install are complex, and it is of paramount importance that we educate our prospective clients in all technical aspects, as they are putting their trust in us to ensure their return on investment.”
Zero Carbon specialises in supplying and installing energy-efficient products and services such as solar panels to generate your own electricity, battery storage systems that can be added to existing systems to promote financial savings, and project management services to aid you on your journey.
Gerard attributes the company’s success to his remarkable team, who are confident and enthusiastic in everything they do, both at work and at home. Zero Carbon’s internal culture is one of positivity that encourages the team to promote each other’s strengths and offer support when needed.
“We have some of the best design and installation talent in Scotland,” says a proud Gerard. “We work in a heavily regulated industry, therefore working at Zero Carbon comes with great responsibility; something our team handles very well – a real A-Team!”
A dedicated team is crucial to maintaining a leading position in the industry, in addition to watching the market for emerging trends. Gerard notes that the company has noticed a shift in consumer behaviour towards seeking out trusted household names within the sector. Until recently, the solar and battery market was saturated with brands nobody had heard of.
Zero Carbon wanted to change that, and has become a Platinum Partner of Duracell Energy, a well-known household name made famous across the country by the familiar Duracell Bunny. This move helps Zero Carbon to solidify its name in households everywhere.
“We are one of very few companies that have remained in this space since opening our doors,” Gerard says. “We are operationally led and spend a lot of time understanding the trends of the marketplace and the incentives on offer.”
This not only applies to forming strategic partnerships, but also to the technology Zero Carbon uses in its operations. The industry of renewable equipment is an ever-evolving landscape, and it is imperative that Zero Carbon hits the ground running with any technological movements to ensure that its clients can take full advantage of what is available to them.
Zero Carbon is committed to always providing the best customer service, and this has been recognised by happy clients in testimonials. The company has been praised for its professionalism, transparency, and quality of service.
“I needed a company that could offer complete transparency, as I had no experience in the field,” says Jane. “From start to finish, I got exactly that. Zero Carbon are a great company to deal with!”
“If you are looking for a quality company, I highly recommend this one. They are the very best in the field, no compromise,” reports John.
“I was nervous to take the plunge on a company I had never dealt with before. It was a very hard decision for me personally, but I have no regrets at all, everything was so fabulous,” writes Madelaine. “So much so, I have recommended Zero Carbon to friends and family. I will never go back to working with anyone else.”
"All seems to be well here. The system is working very nicely and has reduced our consumption from the grid from about 8 units per day to about 1 unit per day. I did the power-cut test by turning off the mains in the garage with the garage lights on. There was nary a flicker, and the broadband internet services continued uninterrupted - very impressive. I am also extremely pleased to say that, so far, I have not detected any radio interference." Conclusively, Zero Carbon has displayed a stellar commitment to providing sustainable and energy-efficient solutions to clients, keeping their interests at the forefront of its operations whilst maintaining an unwavering commitment to unparalleled customer service. We look forward to seeing what 2024 has in store for Zero Carbon, as it continues its trajectory to excellence.
We all want to do our bit for the environment. Making sure our homes and businesses are as energy efficient as possible can make a huge difference. The many government backed incentives encourage us towards a more eco-friendly living style. But navigating the world 0f available products and grants can often be daunting. Scottish company, Zero Carbon, is working to change that.
Zero Carbon works with both domestic and commercial customers in Scotland and throughout the UK. The company is a one-stop-shop for all energy-efficient products. From which lightbulbs to use and why you should have your heating system cleaned, to a full installation of energy saving measures, Zero Carbon is on hand to advise.
Replacement doors and windows, heating systems and heat pumps, solar panels, and external wall insulation, are all areas within Zero Carbon’s expertise. The company works closely with its clients to identify the most effective measures to improve the efficiency of their property.
Moreover, using industry expertise to guide customers through the process of securing available funding and incentives helps make measures accessible and more affordable. The team can even take charge of completing the necessary paperwork on behalf of their clients.
When it comes to getting the work done, Zero Carbon partners with a network of government endorsed installers. This enables them to not only provide their services in the local area but also to reach out nationwide. Zero Carbon verifies every company’s accreditations and competency before appointing it to complete an installation on its behalf.
Managing Director, Gerry Frew, tells us: “This type of work can be very expensive for any client. It’s our job to ensure the client is cared for through every step of the journey.”
Gerry, who incorporated the company back in 2016, has a wealth of experience in the construction, engineering and renewable energy sectors. In his previous roles, he delivered services to major clients such as Network Rail, the Scottish Executive and the Ministry of Defence. Little wonder that Zero Carbon is proficient in delivering successful, client-focused outcomes.
Diligence plays a major part in being able to reduce the carbon footprint of homes and businesses. In an industry where regulations, funding options and incentives are ever-changing, Zero Carbon provides its staff with ongoing training to ensure they are up to speed with the latest developments.
“No company is successful without having a great team,” states Gerry. “We’re privileged to have such an amazing group of like-minded people here. We focus massively on having a positive mental attitude. Our staff are confident and enthusiastic in everything they do, both in and out of work. We promote each other’s strengths and talents. We look after one another.”
It hasn’t been plain sailing for the business during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the firm used the time wisely to examine the way it was operating and make relevant changes. Gerry and the team noticed a major increase in online activity which gave them an opportunity to engage with a wider audience. Although they weren’t able to complete installations during lockdown, the team decided to push ahead and get work orders ready for clients interested in the ECO scheme to be completed at a later date.
ECO, or Energy Company Obligation, is a scheme that helps homeowners in receipt of benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions to access affordable energy efficiency measures.
Zero Carbon revised its whole operation, using its in-house software applications to move focus to scheduling work for UK wide installers ahead of time. By doing this, the company was able to maintain its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption during the pandemic, whilst at the same time satisfying a moral obligation to help some of the most vulnerable people in the UK.
